Present culture in Canada, along with the secular public school system, teaches children self-confidence (“follow your heart,” “listen to your heart,” “the truth is only within you,” “trust yourself”). Yet human beings have a wretched track record. How then, is it wise to teach children to trust something that is evil and untrustworthy?
Christians know from scripture and from real life that the heart is deceitfully wicked, and that in our flesh there is no good thing. We trust in the LORD, who has a perfect track record, and lean not on our own understanding.
Here we see a clash of ideologies where one side claims to be “secular” and “publicly neutral.”
Statistics might be gathered about those who really had “self-”confidence, and what kind of lives they lived.
Public schools also often explicitly or implicitly preach the dogmas of humanism, darwinism, moral relativism, atheism, feminism, and hedonism, among others.
They are religious.
Schools could not discern right from wrong without subscribing to a non-publicly neutral ideology to base their moral code on.
These religions are not healthy for our children.
