We teach scripture in Cloverdale, Surrey, BC, Canada to children aged 6 to 12 for two hours every Saturday.

Our beliefs are held in the scriptures. If you have not read the Bible, you can check a brief summary of what we believe by reading the Apostles’ Creed,[1] the Belgic Confession, and the Canons of Dort.

We are not pastors, elders, or preachers. We are servants of children, in the service of teaching what the Bible teaches.

We make every effort to study original scripture and cross references for our topic. We also refer to atlases, time-lines, and current photographs of some Biblical locations.

We strive to make our teaching understandable for our younger audience, and we avoid delving into topics that are not relevant to children; however, we do not willingly compromise scriptural truth to make a Bible story more palpable for children.

We sing the Genevan Psalms (see here and here) with the children.

After preparing a particular study, it is easy to share with others; that is the purpose of this blog. That said, simply following somebody else’s outline may not always be the best idea when teaching children. Each congregation and each community has its own needs. At any rate, this material is here for you to use freely, if you wish to use it.

Paul, Rita, Annemarie, Ben, Sarah, Nathalie, Colleen, Justin, Josie, Kaitlyn, Alyssa.

Footnotes

[1] By “holy catholic Christian church,” the Apostles’ Creed does not refer to the Roman Catholic church. The adjective “catholic” is used in its untainted original meaning of “universal” or “united”– pertaining to the entire church of believers.
